Ok! First, my dad is doing a little better. He's still in a lot of pain. He has a doctor's appointment this week. I'm praying the doctor has good news. My mom is very tired. Praying she gets some rest.
The women's retreat was fantastic. I have a lot to share. I just need time to sit down and type it all out :) Soon!
This has been a big week. Lots of changes for my family. Mainly school starting and juggling new schedules.
I had a great day with my older girls today :)I'm still smiling at our fun day.
I met a new friend at the retreat. I'm so thankful for that.
Chris and I went to a meeting tonight regarding the youth and high school program. One word....amazing!
You can keep up with what they're doing at:

Just want to leave you with a verse.
"Therefore as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers"

Thursday, August 14, 2008
It's almost Friday! That means I leave tomorrow for my women's retreat :) I'm looking forward to so much.....
1. Growing closer to God!
2. Spending time with incredible Godly women
3. Escaping the extreme heat :)
4. Horseback riding (even though i'm scared of horses)
5. Not having to cook, clean or break up quarrels.
I will miss my family! My husband puts the kids to work while I'm away, so I'm sure they will be calling me tattling. LOL
Hopefully I'll get some great pictures to share.
I found a verse today I wanted to share.
Romans 8:28
"And we know in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose"
Have a Blessed weekend~

update on my dad
Thank you for your prayers! The surgery took 5 hours. He was in so much pain that they put him in ICU last night so they can monitor him. He is now out of ICU and in his own room. He is still in extreme pain. My heart is broken for him. The thought of my dad being in so much pain is so sad for me. I pray he can get some relief. The surgeon is going to check and make sure his morphine drip is working correctly.
He should be home in 4 days. I'll keep you posted.
Blessings,
Missy

prayers please!
Hi, I'm asking for prayer. My dad is having back surgery tomorrow! I would appreciate all prayers. I know my parents are uneasy at what's to come. My mom is on oxygen 24/7 and cannot drive. Not having my dad mobile i'm sure is uneasy for her. Plus, the fear of the unknown. My dad doesn't do well in hospitals. (who does) Praying for the surgeon to have steady hands and a clear mind. Praying the nurses will take wonderful care of my dad. Praying for peace for both my parents.
Blessings,
Missy
My little man and the *big K*
Yes, it's true. My youngest has started kindergarten. Today is his first full day. Here in AZ it's all day. It's actually 6 hrs and 15 minutes, but who's counting. He tried to be so brave, but I could tell he was sad. He kept saying he wanted to stay home with me. Did you hear that? That sound was my heart breaking. Ok, then two minutes later he said *I love school* silly boy.
I have pictures to share, but my camera isn't cooperating, so those will have to wait.
Blessings!
ps,
chris called to see how it went and we talked about being sad.....he was talking to nic last night at bedtime and felt sad that he was going to school. then chris said something that made so much sense. he said, we've only had him three years, he seems like a three yr. old to us. it's so true!!!!!! he doesn't seem 5......just thought i'd share :)

Lucky # 13!
What do you get when you take 13 tweens/teens bowling?
Lots of fun :) My sweet daughter celebrated her 13th birthday yesterday.
What a day it was. She had a bowling/swimming/sleepover party.
Oh my goodness.......yes, there was drama, food fights and ghost stories.
Smores, chips and lots of soda......
I finally crashed at 2am, woke up at 5am to ck on them and not one of them had fallen asleep yet. Yikes!
I think this will be a birthday she won't soon forget.

Marriage
Divorce was the topic our pastor spoke of last Sunday. He said God hates divorce, but not the person who gets a divorce. In the bible there are only two reasons for one to get a divorce. One is if you aren't equally yoked with your partner, or if your partner cheats on you. What about abuse? I think that would fall under the catogery of not being equally yoked. If you we're living a *Christ* like life then you wouldn't be abusing your spouse. I'm talking physical or emotional abuse.
It really made me think of divorce and how our current culture has twisted marriage. We take our vows before God. Now, if your not a Christian before you marry I'm not sure how that works?
Last summer my husband and I went to a marriage seminar *Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage* Highly recommend it. He stresses that one our problems with marriage today is that we're getting married later and later. During that time we have more opportunity to get involved in sin. He says we shouldn't threaten our children if they decide to marry young,,,,19,20,21 years old. As parents we should support and help them. Not cut our children off once they're married. Continue to support them.
It made so much sense to me. I pray my children will choose loving Christian spouses. I pray if they come to me and want my support that I'll be able to lovingly support them emotionally and financially.
Just thought I'd share.
Blessings,
Missy
*bad blogger*
I've been a bad blogger! Let's just say I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment. Here's a few reasons why:
1. planning my daughters 13 bowling/swim/sleepover party (with 12 girls)
2. registering kids for school (four different schools)
3. buying supplies for 4 different kids
4. uniforms for three of the kids..... plus, backpacks and shoes.
5. sports physicals
It's enough to make my head spin :) Once I get all of the above accomplished I should have more time to blog :)
Blessings,
Missy~

It's Hot!
When I got in the car this afternoon the seat was so hot I burned my butt! It's like living with a hot blow dryer blowing on you at all times. I feel hot outside and inside.....ummmmmm maybe I'm going through the change early? Let's hope not! Maybe it's the extra pounds I need to shed? Speaking of which, I may be trying a something new to lose a few pounds. Have you heard of Isagenics? It's a program that you can lose up to 10 pounds and lots of inches in a 30 day period. Or you can do a 9 day plan. The plan seems simple, but a little pricey.
It's nice to have all my kiddos home and under the same roof. School will be starting soon. That means lots of driving and getting up early :( Having regular routine will be nice.
That's about all to report. I'm looking forward to the weekend :)
Blessings,
Missy

I won't be able to post pictures until next week. We let our daughter take our camera to Haiti. I've wanted so many times to take a picture and then realize I don't have my camera.
My daughter is back from church camp :) She had a wonderful time and feels closer to God. I'm so very proud of her. She also made the decision to get baptized. I can't wait to see pictures.
Mckenzie is working very hard in Haiti. It's extremely hot and humid. They have painted the school room, began VBS and are making needed repairs. They removed a lot of rock to make a safer place for the kids to play.
Chris put Nic's wall up in his room. I'm so excited! He'll finally have his own room. I can unpack all his toys.
That's about it for today. I'm feeling very blessed right now.

Haiti or bust :)
Good news! The team is in Miami. They will spend the night in the airport and fly to Port Au Prince in the morning. My daughter was up and ready to go. She has to be on time. That is her personality. Much like her dad. I spoke with her tonight. I hope she can sleep in the airport. Our pastor prayed with them this morning. He said something that really made me think. He said " I pray this group will bless hundreds" Indeed they may. The school they will be repairing schools many....not sure the amount? The children and the staff at the Orphanage. I thought, how incredible. God uses us to bless His people. I'm in awe of that and I'm so humbled that my God is using my daughter.
I ask you please continue to pray.
Love,
Missy

a few updates, trips and prayer requests :)
First off, I hope you are all having a blessed holiday weekend. Thank you to all the military that have fought so hard for our freedom! You are true heroes. (sp)? My dad was in the Navy. What a sacrifice he made for his country. I'm so proud of you dad!
We're still settling in. It's feeling like home more and more :)
My daughter Kendall is leaving tomorrow for church camp. She's so excited. I'm happy for her and pray her faith will grow. I know she'll have lots of fun.
My oldest daughter is leaving on Tuesday for Haiti. She's going with our church on a missions trip. She will be volunteering at Nicolas' orphanage. I can't wait to see how this impacts her life!
So, I ask if you feel led to pray for my daughters I would be so appreciative. I'm so proud of them and will post updates as soon as they return.
Blessings,
Missy~
