face lift

In honor of February ..... which I can't believe is tomorrow, and Valentines day. I decided to re-due my page. About time! The picture I added was taken at Christmas time in Galveston. We all love the beach. Infact the older girls would love to move to Galveston....not sure that will happen, but I remind them they have their whole lives in front of them and if that's something they want to do.....they can one day :)

Happy February!!!!

Haiti

Hi friends! This week has been a whirlwind! You may know our youngest is adopted from Haiti. As you can imagine this past week has been very emotional for us in many ways. My heart breaks for the people of Haiti. Some good has come out of this tragedy. All the kids from Three Angels Orphanage were able to come to the states to their forever families! Our good friends have their children right now as i type this. I just came from holding our best friends new son. He's absouletly  perfect.

My heart will be forever in Haiti. It is my son's birth country. His hertiage will always be there. I will always feel connected to his country. Still awaiting news that his birth mom and sister are ok.

Continuing to pray for the people of Haiti!

week one

just completed week one of the *weigh down* i have to admit, i've never stuck with a program one week. sad, but true. food would always win. this program seems to be easier. i think it's because no food is off limits....basically the only rules are....only eat when your hungry...physical hunger, not head hunger and eat until your satisfied...not stuffed.

thankfully i'm not doing this journey alone. i have good friends by my side. wanted to share a real simple recipe that my family loves

8oz cooked spagetti.....cooked and drained
2 eggs, slightly beaten
8oz cheese....i used mozzerella
28oz pasta sauce

your favorite pizza toppings....ours is pepperoni (so good with this recipe)

1. cook and drain pasta
2. in lrg bowl add egg, pasta, 1/2 chesse and mix well
3. pour contents into 9'11 dish
4. pour pasta sauce evenly over pasta
5. add cheese and pepperoni.
6. bake 375 for 20 minutes.

my son who dislikes pasta loves this recipe....enjoy :)

1. cook and drain spagetti

Waiting for the growl....

strange, but true....these past few days i've been waiting for the growl. a few girls and i have decided to try a new eating plan. no diets....no pills or any other nonsense. just listening to our bodies. bascially we're waiting for our bodies to tell us we're hungry. Gods design for us so incredible. i don't think He ever intended us to use a clock to decide when we should eat...he designed our bodies to tell us. very freeing, but not as easy as one may think.

Or better know as Nicolas. Our youngest and only son :) He has come into his own. He loves football. The NFL network has become his favorite channel. There is history with this little guy. We brought him home from Haiti one week after his 2nd birthday. He's now 6 1/2 and every inch of that!

missy moo moo

when our youngest daughter was born....she had lots of nick names. I'm a little embarrassed to share....but here goes......"missy moo moo....olga thunder thighs, stinker, stinker, stinker faces and the relos". Yes, strange, but they all fit her little personality. Now, she's nine and none of those silly nick names fit her. She's grown into quite a young lady. Her dad and I feel very blessed to have her. Long story shore, we thought we we're done at two.......my heart thought different. Thankfully, we we're blessed with a daughter. Who would of thought......a couple that married at 20.... we'd not have children, now have four!

5 things about our Chloe

1. she loves to sing and sing and sing
2. she's funny
3. smart
4. loving
5. she still love to spend time with me :0)

*the oldest*

Back to introducing my family :) My oldest daughter is 16.....can't believe *I* have a 16 year old. How did that happen? Seriously, where did the time go? Well, I can say that the years have passed quickly, and at the same time I've been blessed with the opportunity to spend most of those 16 years at home with my kiddos. I've worked here and there, but the majority of my time has been spent at home. I'm so thankful for that...

Mckenzie is extremly independant and private. Sounds a lot like my husband. She rarley yells and her tempermant is very even. I admire that about her. Theres a lot I admire about her. A lot that makes me nuts sometimes too. She is a beautiful young adult. Wiser beyond her years, but still a child at heart. I thank God that he's blessed me with such an amazing.....creation.

I absoultely love the above picture! The only thing that could make that picture better would be to have Chloe in it too. When I look at this picture....each time i post on my blog It makes me so happy. It expresses the true happiness and simpleness of life. Yes, life can be trying and difficult at times......but, this picture captures the importance of being childlike and sometimes, we just need to dig in the sand. Watch the waves crash against the shore....enjoy a sunset....and just be...in the moment.

my better 1/2

As promised.....I'm introducing my family :) Next is my husband of almost 20 years. Can't even believe it's been that long. Our journey together started Thanksgiving break 1987. That weekend was our first offically date. Lots has happened since that weekend. Some good....some not so good. I'm blessed to have such a great partner. Some one to walk beside me through lives ups and downs. He's a great dad and an extremely hard worker. OK......he has faults too, but don't we all. Here's some 10 things that describe him.

1. he loves sports
2. he loves his children
3. he likes sunflower seeds
4. he would never wear pink
5. he will eat anything i make him, and never complain
6. he secretly likes our dog, May.....acts like he doesn't
7. listens to way too much talk radio
8. pretends not to hear me sometimes :)
9. would do anything i asked him......including buying certain embarrassing items
10. loves God (should be 1st)

Let me introduce myself :)

When I first started this blog....a few years ago, my goal was to capture my home schooling journey with my daughter Chloe. Now, she's in school and doing fantastic. We're blessed to be able to send her to a very small private Christian School. This blog has evolved over the years and now it serves as communitcation between my distant family and friends. I've thought about choosing a new theme, but that would be too much pressure for me .... so this is blog is just a way to let my family and friends know what I'm up to.

I'm going to introduce you to my family this week:

Let's start with me :)

pumpkin farm......it's hot :)

Seriously....hot outside. Each year we venture out to a new pumpkin farm.....and each year it's 90 degrees out. So, why does this surprise us each time? And why do we focus on that each year? Despite the hot weather, we had a fun time. Lots of animals to look at and a few corn mazes to venture through. The best part was having all my family together.

Home Coming

Last weekend my oldest daughter went to homecoming with her friend Bill. Who she refers to as "the boy". We had fun picking out her dress and assesories. Sadly, I didn't get the pictures I wanted, because they were late to pick a girl that lived about 45 minutes away....so, I have to be happy with the few I got. I think Mckenzie looks beautiful. She picked the perfect dress. Her sister did her hair, and I did her make up and toes :) I'm so thankful to have those precious memories with my kids.

Enjoy!

The tough stuff

This year has been a roller coaster ride for me, emotionally. Seriously. It's the middle of October and I'm finally feeling  ok. I wish I could share the details, but too personal and still too painful. I'm reading this book called "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan. At first, I wasn't sure if this book was for me. Now, I realize this book is part of my healing. This book is challenging me in a way I've never been challenged. This book is opening my mind ( I know, creepy) but it truly is stretching me. I've realized tonight, thanks to my friend Jeni, Heather and Kati is that I'm not in control. That I need to take the "I" out of it and replace that with HIM. Thank you for my dear friends at my bible study table for being real....and honest and allowing me to be me.

Just Funny!

Friday my hubby and I.....along with some great friends from church went to see a wonderfully funny comedian. His name is Tim Hawkins. A local church was hosting him. $10.00 for a night filled with laughs and fun. If you haven't heard of this guy you should google him. I laughed so hard I cried. His comedy is clean and I love that he's been married awhile and has 4 kiddos. He's very relatable.

Hope your weekend was fun and full of laughs :)

costume shopping

I love to look for costumes. Over the years I've learned not to wait until the last minute. I took my little ones out today. First we headed to one of my favorite places for a quick lunch.....Chick-fil-A. I think they have the best chicken sandwiches around. There were lots of screaming kiddos to keep us busy. My child only decided to lay on top the table while I was ordering our lunch. Not too bad. I wouldn't let my kids go into the play area, for one they're getting kinda big for that, but more importantly the flu is rampant here. Our best friends have been fighting it for over a week.....not good.

We end up at our destination. Target...we sneak through the garden area. Avoiding the traffic and tons of  people. I'm just staring at all the flowers and dreaming of how my rock front yard with look with these colorful flowers planted.

Nicolas is determined to be GI Joe...where did he even get that? Is GI joe still around? Well, he decided on the puffy Power Ranger costume....again, is that show still around? When does  he watch it? Secretly when I'm sleeping? He looks pretty cute and if he's happy so am I :0)

Chloe choose a beautiful Cleopatra costume. She looks so pretty in it....but, it's too ITCHY....we go through this every year....ITCHY.....so, looks like we're returning it :( I'm sad....i even renaimed it....Chloepatra.....:)

So, fun day with the youngsters.

Hope you are having a great holiday!

Blessings,
Missy~
